James Valvo is a nontraditional student majoring in political science and international affairs. He spent 10 years in the culinary arts mastering French-Asian cuisine. James' current focus is on tax and budget policy, an interest he pursues as Assistant for Policy and Public Affairs at Americans for Prosperity. James is the 2008 Harry S. Truman Scholar representing the District of Columbia.
His writing has been featured in the Washington Post, National Review and Reason magazine. After completing his senior year, James will attend law school in Washington DC, where he will work toward dual degrees in law and public policy. He plans to work in the federal government striving for efficient solutions to complex issues.
