(June 11, 1913 – September 3, 1970) Head coach of the Washington Redskins in 1969. He won five NFL championships with the Green Bay Packers from 1959-1967 and is the namesake for the NFL’s Super Bowl trophy.
In June of 1970, Lombardi was diagnosed with intestinal cancer right before Redskins training camp.
He died 10 weeks later.
