Your Business and The Law of Attraction

Have you seen “The Secret”? It’s that movie (and now a book) that talks about “The Law of Attraction”. The Law of Attraction has gained pop iconic status through the movie The Secret and people like Oprah Winfrey and Larry King. It has been mentioned on prime time television series and is now available on cable television as well as being all over the Internet.

The Law of Attraction simply says "Like attracts like". In other words, if you can imagine it, then you can achieve it. But please (please, please!) don’t think that you will simply imagine something and “poof”, it is there for the taking.  You must use the Law of Attraction PLUS Action!

As Wallace Wattles said in the book, The Science of Getting Rich (the book that inspired “The Secret”) not only must you think in a “Certain Way” but you must also act in a certain way also. We’ll talk more about your actions in another article, for now, let’s focus on your thoughts.

How can we apply the Law of Attraction to our business?  First let’s think about some of histories greatest inventions and theories.

Once upon a time something as common-place as the car was not even part of our imagination. Then someone asked the question... there has to be a better way to ... and viola! The answers came and the car was born. Apply the same question to the airplane. Notice that both inventions (or solutions) were born of simple questions. If "like attracts like" and believing means achieving, then these principles are a perfect fit for the business world. These concepts have been part of the Small and Home Based Business arena for quite some time now. The successful have perseverance which usually comes from a knowing that they can do just that... succeed.

Anthony Robbins says that if you don't like the answer you're getting "ask a better question!" He's right. The better the question you ask, the better the answer you'll get.
By asking better questions you allow The Law of Attraction to start working in your life. Think of it as a coach for your mind. You learn to focus on what works or what could work instead of what doesn't. This allows you to see what is possible instead of what isn't. If what you think about expands, then finding easy ways to direct your thoughts is the answer. Asking better questions is one way to do that. If you are getting negative feelings when you think about work or starting a business then change the question running through your head. This, by the way works for all situations.

Here’s an example...

Instead of ... "This can't work for me. Nothing ever works for me."
Try this... "How can this work for me? What can I do differently then I have done before? What have I not tried yet"?

Sounds simple right? That's because it is. Just compare the feelings that you get from both questions in your head and you will see that the first question is dis-empowering and the second one opens up the to possibilities. It simply feels better. When you feel better, things tend to go better. Put a different way, if like then feeling better has to attract a better situation.

Now let's bring this back around and use the "like attracts like" principle. Keeping in mind that what you think about expands, you first must gain clarity on the business you want to be in. Once you know that you can begin to create it for yourself. When you're looking for a home business, think about what characteristics of that business would be important to you. Who you want to work with? What kind of hours do you want to keep? Will it product driven or service oriented etc. Looking with purpose will help steer you in the right direction and help you avoid all the hype and get-rich-quick-schemes.

There are some basic things to focus on in order to ask better questions and apply the Law of Attraction to your search. Look for what WILL work instead of trying to avoid what won't. Write down all the things you want your business to be, to do and to have. Paint a picture with words and then create a vision board if you can. This will give you a clear picture in your mind of what you really want. The clarity you gain by staying on what you want vs. what you don't want will be your greatest ally in achieving success and creating your business, your way.

Although many people are just now become familiar with the Law of Attraction, it is not new and definitely not a “secret”.  Clear examples of it are in The Bible (…the faith of a mustard seed…). You should begin to build your library (real or on your computer) with a host of books available to you. Go out and get the classic “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill, if you haven’t already.  Other books that I recommend (to start with) are “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho, “The Greatest Salesman In The World” by Og Mandino,  and “The Richest Man In Babylon” by George Clayson.
Of course I highly recommend the grandfather of them all “The Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace Wattles.

Applied wisely, you will be able to gain and attain anything that you desire.  Best Wishes!
